The Space Triptych was originally created for my exhibition at Nicéphore in Lyon.
Each print is a darkroom composite, created with a completely non-digital workflow. For this reason, each print is completely unique and cannot be reproduced. After arriving at each of these three prints, I decided to make no more composites, keeping them at single editions.
(The “not-quite-there” prints leading up to each were sold as “irregular.”)
To make these, I used A3 silver gelatin glossy fiber darkroom paper. Each was printed from several 35mm negatives. The moon negatives were kindly provided by photographer Richard Davies.
There is an additional protective mat on the back of each print, which has the name of each image and its position in the triptych. The mat is signed on the front, and the actual print is signed on the reverse.
